Whether it’s your first time walking the vendor aisles or you’re a seasoned regular, understanding basic gun show etiquette can make your experience smoother, more enjoyable, and respectful for everyone involved. At Eastern Gun Expo, we welcome thousands of visitors across Pennsylvania and Massachusetts each month. Following a few simple gun show rules ensures a safe, efficient, and positive environment for all.

Here’s a quick guide to the do’s and don’ts every attendee should know; consider it essential prep for your next visit.

✅ DO: Bring Proper Identification

Always carry valid government-issued ID, especially if you plan to purchase a firearm. Dealers are legally required to verify age and residency, and you’ll save time by having it ready.

❌ DON’T: Bring Loaded Firearms Into the Venue

One of the most important gun show rules is safety. No loaded firearms are allowed inside the venue, period. Even if you have a concealed carry permit, all firearms must be unloaded and secured before entering. Our security team will inspect all carry-ins upon arrival.

✅ DO: Ask Before Handling Any Firearm

Even if a firearm is clearly displayed on a table, always ask the vendor for permission before picking it up. This shows respect for their merchandise and helps maintain a professional, safe environment.

❌ DON’T: Haggle Aggressively or Waste Vendor Time

Negotiating prices is part of the fun, but do it respectfully. If a vendor sets a firm price, accept it or move on. Avoid monopolizing their time if you’re not serious about buying.

✅ DO: Bring Cash

While some vendors accept cards, many are cash-only. Having cash on hand will help you move through your purchases quickly and may even get you better deals.

❌ DON’T: Block Tables or Walkways

If you need to take a break, chat, or make a phone call, step to the side. Blocking vendor tables or aisles disrupts traffic and frustrates other attendees.

✅ DO: Know and Follow the Law

Familiarize yourself with Pennsylvania (or your state’s) firearm laws before the show. That includes knowing how background checks work, what’s allowed in private sales, and where you can carry. Vendors are required to follow strict legal guidelines, and understanding the rules helps you shop responsibly.

❌ DON’T: Bring Pets (Unless They’re Service Animals)

Pets are not permitted inside the venue unless they are ADA-compliant service animals. This policy helps maintain a distraction-free and safe space for all attendees.

✅ DO: Be Polite, Patient, and Prepared

Peak times can bring big crowds, so show courtesy to vendors, staff, and fellow guests. Respecting space, time, and personal boundaries is a key part of good gun show etiquette.
